Strikes for Seniors
On Sunday, March 12, 2017 the Silver Horizons 1st Annual Strikes for Seniors Fun Bowl was held at Isleta Fun Connection. Bowlers of all ages and skill levels were welcome to this family-friendly event. We were happy to welcome about 125 bowlers who all received t-shirts, arcade game cards, shoe rental, access to laser tag, billiards and celebration cake. We also held a very successful raffle that included some very exciting donated items. For ex.: Toltec and Cumbres train tickets, overnight stays from a few high-end Hotel/Motels.
This event was originally developed by Walgreens a couple of years ago and we thank them for selecting Silver Horizons as a recipient of last year’s bowling proceeds. We thank them for their support past and present.
Walgreens has passed the baton to Silver Horizons, and now we are running with the project raising important funds for our projects to help hungry and in-crisis seniors.
We are pleased to say that everyone had a good time. This per their personal feedback and all the laughter and friendly competition we witnessed!
But we couldn’t do all this without our sponsors:
Our presenting sponsor was HomeInstead Senior Care. This organization has been a long-time, and consistent supporter of Silver Horizons. HomeInstead Care Givers provide compassionate and reliable home care services to help keep seniors safe and independent wherever they call home. They offer a broad range of services with the goal of enhancing the lives of seniors and their families. HomeInstead cares about seniors and Silver Horizons is deeply grateful for their support.
We would like to thank Suzi Giletti. She is an Associate Broker for Coldwell Banker – she can be reached by Cell: 505-681-8570 or Office 505-293-3700. She and her company really came through for us and we are proud to partner with her and her team.
A special thank you goes to NMACC: New Mexico Association for Continuity of Care. This group of professionals provide care to New Mexico’s seniors. The NMACC Board has decided to sponsor Silver Horizons during the entire year. This Fun Bowl event is our first joint project. Thanks to NMACC for recognizing the good work of Silver Horizons.
We have two media sponsors that make it possible for Silver Horizons to reach larger audiences—audiences our nonexistent marketing budget could never reach with our stories: Prime Time Magazine and the Albuquerque Journal. Thanks for sponsoring our fun bowl event.
New Silver Horizon Supporters:
We would also like to thank new supporters of our mission. These three businesses work to build a better New Mexico, literally, and we want to thank them for supporting seniors. Welcome to our network and thank you!

Did you know New Mexico is second in the nation for senior hunger? A senior you know is hungry right now….and is probably struggling in silence.
Everyone’s efforts to make this event a success made a real difference for seniors.
Let’s continue to partner and keep up the good work!!!
