OUR SERVICES

Can you imagine living on less than $900 a month? New Mexico is one of the worst states in the nation for senior hunger and for senior malnutrition. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, one out of every seven Bernalillo County seniors live below the poverty level. Too many of New Mexico’s seniors are living in poverty, and the numbers of seniors in need continues to rise as Baby Boomers age.

Since 1980, Silver Horizons has been a reliable community resource for low-income seniors, their families and caregivers, who are looking for help with household bill assistance to help pay mounting bills, help with minor home repairs, and a source of free groceries for seniors, along with personal hygiene items, to help keep our loved ones healthy and fed.

As a caring advocate for our community’s aging adults, Silver Horizons provides services to seniors from Santa Fe to Belen.  In addition to providing much needed services and resources to low-income and at-risk seniors in Bernalillo, Sandoval, Santa Fe and Valencia counties, Silver Horizons has built trusted relationships with numerous support agencies and businesses in New Mexico, and can help navigate seniors to resources to meet ever-growing and ever-changing needs.

SENIOR FOOD MARKETS & FREE GROCERIES FOR SENIORS

SFM Logo Final.png
Most of the seniors we assist live on less than $900 a month!  Our Free Groceries for Seniors program helps stretch household budgets so there is enough quality food to eat everyday.

New Mexico is one of the worst states in the nation for senior hunger and for senior malnutrition. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, one out of every seven Bernalillo County seniors live below the poverty level. Silver Horizons’ Free Groceries for Seniors program provides free groceries to about 3,500 seniors each month, and to nearly 1,300 grandchildren many of these seniors are raising.

Our Free Groceries for Seniors program helps keep nutritious foods available to low-income seniors who must make the choice between buying groceries, paying their utility bills, paying for necessary medications, or covering other life expenses. At Silver Horizons, we believe our aging and elderly citizens in New Mexico shouldn’t have to make that choice. If you, or a senior you know, is in need of food, please call us at 505-884-3881.
